Soft curves and gentle shapes take us through the sets here with a mixture of materials used to convey the fun and chaos of a 30-somethings’ life in turmoil. The devil is in the detail so they say, and we scribbled, scrawled and patched together props all over this series. Wine stains on sofas from long boozy house parties and googly eyes stuck to plant pots. These sets were brimming with good old-fashioned silly FUN.

With plenty of cutaways and montages, the sets demanded to be bold and punchy to grab attention and compliment performance. My favourite being the mermaid beach scene children’s party we set up in a basement in a very fancy West London Townhouse.

Graphic shapes, fish, flamingos and balloons feature heavily and add to the playful comedy of the scenes. I particularly enjoyed having a Tuba on set too. Fun and frolics for Channel 4.

We made the Pilot and then we made a series! Gameface, the Comedy series written by and starring Roisin Conaty as Marcella, a woman on a mission to improve her life with the help of her mates, dubious life-coach and ever-patient driving instructor.

This hilarious series full of quick jaunts had to have a splashy bold look to it with comedy throwbacks. We really did punch as many slapstick prop scenarios as we could dream of to bring these sets to life.

We worked to source high and low for this production, with a focus on props and furniture that didn’t take itself too seriously to draw a parallel with our comedy script. Hula-Girl themed trinkets and fancy dress silliness paired with flamingo shaped Neon lights and everyday nonsense gave our sets and characters a sense of a life well lived.
